Desk Report:
Bangladesh will take on India in the second match of the Super Four tomorrow at 8:30 pm. Suryakumar Yadav will be ahead of Liton Das in any way in the match. Phil Simmons has no worries about that. Bangladesh’s head coach is quite confident of winning against India.
India is the hot favorite of the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav’s team has won all the matches of the group stage with force. They defeated the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, then Oman. Their dominance continues in the Super Four as well. India has smoothed the path to the final by defeating Pakistan. Not only this year’s Asia Cup, but the statistics against Bangladesh also speak for themselves.
Simmons, however, does not want to look at what has happened in the past. The Bangladesh team coach said in a press conference, “We should have faith in winning. Today we sat down and talked about the issues. We can beat India, we have that opportunity. We got a break after the Sri Lanka match. We have to utilize that break opportunity. We have a chance to win against India.’
According to Simmons, it will not be difficult to beat India if we can give our best on a given day. The Bangladesh coach said at a press conference in Dubai today, ‘Every team has the ability to beat India. This is a specific match. It is not that India has not lost before. We will try to play our best cricket and pay attention to how to make India make mistakes. That is how we have to win.’
In May this year, Liton officially became the captain of the Bangladesh T20 team. Under his leadership, Bangladesh lost the series to the United Arab Emirates. Then Liton-Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Pakistan were whitewashed 3-0 in Lahore. Bangladesh’s transformation in the short version of cricket started with the Sri Lanka series. Bangladesh won the historic T20 series against Sri Lanka on their own soil. In that sequence, the Litons won series against Pakistan and the Netherlands.
Bangladesh went to the United Arab Emirates to play the Asia Cup with the confidence of winning three consecutive series in T20. Liton-Hridaya have won three out of four matches in the desert so far. While evaluating Bangladesh’s performance in the short version of cricket, Simmons said, “It is definitely getting better (Bangladesh’s performance in T20). The captain is making a big contribution here. He is giving his teammates good direction. The coaches are also giving freedom. This is important in all forms of cricket. But it (freedom) is very important to express your skills in T20 cricket.
